Bols Cocktail Competition & Community Event
The Bols Cocktail Competition & Community Event was held in Zurich for the first time in Switzerland. 60 invited guests took part in the meeting of the Swiss bar scene, which included intensive technical discussions, Bols 90s cocktails with a modern twist and the first Bols Cocktail Competition in Switzerland.
Nine bartenders, one goal: showcasing Bols Blue Curacao
Nine of Switzerland’s most talented bartenders competed against each other. Their task: to create a cocktail with Bols Blue Curacao under the motto ‘Disco Cocktail’ that not only tastes great, but also combines creativity, technique and storytelling.
The jury – expertise at the highest level
The drinks were judged by three international professionals:
- Natascha Galus, Bar manager at ‘Baur au Lac’ Zurich
- Ivar de Lange, Global Education Manager at Bols Amsterdam
- Julia Schär, Bar manager at ‘Blaupause’ Basel
The winner: Roman Mutzner – Einstein Bar St. Gallen
Roman Mutzner won the competition with his ‘Neon Mirage’ cocktail. The main prize for him is a trip to Amsterdam – for an international exchange with all the winners of the Bols Competition worldwide. Timo Schulz (Bar Capitol, Lucerne) with his cocktail ‘Azure’ and Lloyd Locher (Fat Tony, Zurich) with his creation ‘Tiramiblu’ also won second and third place.
Product launch: Bols Blue 1575
The event also saw the launch of the new Bols Blue 1575 product, which is being launched worldwide to mark the 450th anniversary.
Bols Blue 1575 is a modern interpretation of the classic Blue Curaçao. The orange liqueur is made from high-quality distillates and refined with a spiced rum based on vanilla, cardamom and grains of paradise. The result is a complex flavour profile with fruity and spicy notes and a tropical depth. The alcohol content is 29.5 per cent by volume. The deep blue colour is created by the addition of a cardamom tincture. Bols Blue 1575 is suitable for classic and modern cocktails as well as on its own.
Bols 1575 is now available exclusively from Dettling & Marmot in Switzerland.
