Underberg is made according to a secret recipe from 1846 using aromatic herbs from 43 countries and matured for several months in oak barrels.
After many years of careful development, company founder Hubert Underberg launched his unique product in 1846. Underberg's extraordinary impact and quality has resulted in countless international awards and medals. Selected aromatic herbs from 43 countries are key to the Underberg taste. The elaborate secret process known as «Semper idem», which was developed in-house at Underberg, ensures the careful extraction of the precious active ingredients and vitamins from the choice and aromatic herbs. This is followed by a maturation process lasting several months in barrels made of Slovenian oak. Underberg is guaranteed to aid digestion after a good meal. The composition and exact proportions of the herbs are still handled personally by fourth- and fifth-generation family members. Only two family members and two monks from the monastery know the secret recipe.
Dr Paul Underberg, the grandson of the Underberg company founder, was a cosmopolitan and passionate explorer of foreign cultures. But he was particularly fascinated by the healing power of herbs and plants from the Amazon region. In 1933, he settled in Rio de Janeiro and began producing «Underberg do Brasil», now Brasilberg. He added further secret ingredients from the Amazon region to the proven Underberg recipe. The resulting unique Brazilian herb quickly advanced to become the preferred drink of Rio society.
Fernet Branca was created in 1845 and over time has retained its personality and originality, conquering Europe and America. The secret product formula is passed down from father to son within the Branca family. This has ensured the maintenance of the product quality and still today makes Fernet Branca the Amaro, considered the best digestive liqueur. The 27 herbs it is made of come from all 5 continents: Aloe from South Africa, rhubarb from China, gentian from France, galangal from India or Sri Lanka, chamomile from Italy and Argentina, to name but a few. In addition, there are flowers, herbs, roots and plants from which alcoholic infusions, extracts and infusions are made, which, when expertly blended, give the product its health-promoting properties. Fernet-Branca matures for at least one year in oak barrels, has a light brown colour with amber reflections and an intense, balanced and lush smell.

The basic aromatic and spicy recipe for Túnel was discovered by medieval monks in Mallorca. The name originates from the famous island train, which, on its way across the hilly, wildly romantic isle, passes through many railway tunnels – the Túnel de Mallorca. To this day, Túnel de Mallorca embodies the spirit of ancient Mallorca.
