Die neue Harmony Collection von The Macallan - Harmony Collection Amber Meadow

4. December 2023

The Macallan’s new rarities

Harmony III – inspired by nature

The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow is the third limited edition in an innovative annual series.

It has been created in collaboration with Stella and Mary McCartney to celebrate the lush and fertile soils of Scotland. The Whisky Mastery team has also taken inspiration from natural Scottish grasslands to create a single malt matured in both sherry oak and bourbon casks, strongly reminiscent of warm meadows and ripe barley fields with a rich, citrus-scented finish. Availability on request.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Sun-ripened orange and lemon, honeysuckle, vanilla, coconut and ripe barley fields
  • Flavour: Rich oak, lemon, melon, classic scone, almond and green tea
  • Finish: Rich, sweet, long and complex

A Night on Earth – The Journey

The Macallan A Night on Earth The Journey

A Night on Earth – The Journey is the second edition of a limited edition gift series of single malt Scotch whisky and is designed to reflect the ubiquitous joy of celebrating the New Year. The Journey is a perfectly balanced first-fill combination of exceptional American ex-bourbon casks and European and American sherry oak casks. The inspiration for the whisky creation comes from renowned artist Nimi Sum and her journey home to celebrate the New Year. The innovative packaging was designed in collaboration with her. Availability on request.

Tasting Notes

Nose: toasted oak, creamy pudding made from steamed rice and coconut milk, citrus fruits, vanilla and oat biscuits

Flavour: sparkling citrus – lemon and lime with sweet, creamy vanilla sponge and toasted coconut

Finish: medium length with sweet toasted oak and vanilla

The Macallan – the Rolls-Royce of single malts

The Macallan works with companies in Spain that have extensive expertise in the entire cask making process – «from selecting the tree to finishing the seasoned casks» – carefully selecting and felling the oak trees in the forests of northern Spain, cutting and drying the oak staves before transporting them south for air-drying to further reduce moisture. The barrels are then filled with sherry for 18 months before being transported to Scotland. There they are finally filled with the «New Make Spirit», the fresh distillate from The Macallan.

A whisky with a reputation for being one of the world’s finest single malts. Founded in 1824, Macallan was one of the first legal distilleries in Scotland. Situated on the banks of the River Spey, the country estate with the mysterious name «Easter Elchie House» sits gracefully on a hill near Craigellachie. Here, where the Spey runs its swift course in the shadow of the Grampian Mountains, the location and climate create unique conditions for whisky production. The distillery was first licensed by Alexander Reid in 1824.
