The Macallan modernises Double Cask and Sherry Oak
The Macallan, one of the most renowned brands of single malt Scotch whisky, has given its two iconic lines – the Double Cask Collection and the Sherry Oak Collection – a new visual identity. The design is the work of internationally renowned graphic designer David Carson and combines the brand’s rich heritage with a modern, forward-looking appearance.
Although the visual identity has evolved, the whisky remains the same distinctive flavour for which The Macallan is known – balanced, elegant and refined.
Craftsmanship meets design
The new bottle and label designs reflect key elements of the brand:
- The striking architecture of The Macallan Distillery with its green roof inspired the new bottle shape.
- A triangular shoulder label refers to the Spanish ‘Sherry Triangle’, the origin of the sherry-matured oak casks.
- Back labels feature a new symbol that highlights the influence of European and American oak on taste and aroma.
- Integrated QR codes offer additional insights while enhancing product security thanks to state-of-the-art anti-counterfeiting technologies.
Two collections – one signature
- Double Cask Collection: A harmonious composition of American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry in Jerez de la Frontera. The result is smooth, creamy whiskies with notes of fresh fruit, toffee, gentle spices and dried fruit.

- Sherry Oak Collection: Matured in European sherry oak casks, this line offers intense aromas of dried fruit, ginger and deep wood spice – gaining complexity with age.
