Principi di Butera new to our range
From 1 January 2026, we will be expanding our range to include Principi di Butera, a renowned producer from Sicily. The winery will replace Duca di Salaparuta and stands for authentic, high-quality wines from one of the most exciting regions in southern Italy.
Principi di Butera is located in the province of Caltanissetta in the central-southern part of Sicily, in the Riesi DOC area. The region is known for its indigenous grape varieties – above all Nero d’Avola – and for expressive red wines with a clear origin. The white wines are also impressive with their freshness and pronounced minerality, favoured by the cooling sea breeze. The hot, dry climate and intense light conditions create ideal conditions for optimal ripening of the grapes and consistently high quality.
Tradition and innovation in harmony
Since 1997, Principi di Butera has been part of the Zonin family, which is committed to the sustainable management and further development of this special terroir. The aim is to produce wines that authentically reflect the identity, power and history of Sicily.
A visible sign of this commitment is the complete restoration of the historic baglio, a traditional fortified farmstead with an inner courtyard. The warm ochre tones of the walls now stand in striking contrast to the bright blues and greens of the Sicilian landscape – a symbol of the successful combination of tradition and modern winemaking philosophy.
