The Macallan Harmony VI: Inspired by Fresh Coconut

The sixth and final edition of the Harmony Collection completes a series that has brought together nature, creativity and whisky craftsmanship from the outset. At its heart is an aroma rarely associated with The Macallan: fresh coconut. The whisky was matured exclusively in first-fill American oak casks, predominantly sherry-seasoned American oak, complemented by bourbon casks. This brings out the coconut notes naturally present in the wood. For the final chapter, The Macallan once again collaborated with Jordi Roca of El Celler de Can Roca. The packaging contains paper made from recycled coconut fibres, whose charcoal gives it its dark colour. Nose: fresh coconut, lime, citrus, mango, papaya, vanilla and sweet oak. Palate: lime, lemon, vanilla biscuit, coconut milk, dried fruit and oak. Finish: coconut and floral honey.

Quantities are currently limited. The edition is available on request only via the Field Service.

The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old 110 Proof

The 110 Proof is a more powerful interpretation of the classic Sherry Oak 12 Years Old. It is matured for 12 years in sherry-seasoned oak casks, predominantly European oak, and bottled at 55% ABV. The higher strength intensifies the rich, fruity Sherry Oak style and adds depth and texture. Nose: sticky dates, cherry compote, cinnamon, cacao nibs and dried orange. Palate: robust oak, sultanas, ginger, star anise, mandarin and dark chocolate with espresso notes. Finish: layered, with molasses toffee, mocha and sweet cinnamon.

The 110 Proof is not a limited edition and joins the Sherry Oak Range permanently, but quantities are currently limited. It is available on request only via the Field Service.

The Macallan TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask

TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask is the first The Macallan whisky matured in casks seasoned with the house’s own Valdespino sherry. It celebrates the distillery’s close ties with Jerez de la Frontera, the home of sherry. In 2024, the year of The Macallan’s 200th anniversary, the first 200 casks were filled with its own Valdespino sherry. A small selection of these casks went into this release, while most will continue to mature for decades. The whisky was matured for at least 20 years in sherry-seasoned casks and then in casks seasoned with Valdespino sherry. It is bottled at 44.8% ABV. Nose: sherry-soaked raisins, figs, dates, frangipane and caramelised nuts, with dark chocolate, cinnamon and ginger. Palate: dried fruit, ginger cake, toffee and blackberry jam, with cloves, cacao nibs and polished oak. Finish: warm wood spice, a hint of espresso and soft oak.

This release, too, is available in limited quantities and on request only via the Field Service.

Outlook

The final release in the ‘A Night on Earth’ series follows in November. Dettling & Marmot AG will share the story behind this closing chapter shortly.

About The Macallan

The Macallan was founded in 1824 as one of the first legally licensed distilleries in Scotland. The estate overlooks the River Spey near Craigellachie, around Easter Elchie House. Its style is defined by maturation in sherry-seasoned oak casks: the oak comes from northern Spain, where the casks are made and seasoned with sherry for 18 months before being filled with new make spirit in Scotland.
